FAQs
Loads of children take Maths in grade 11/12 thinking that Maths will open up multiple options for them. They believe that not taking Maths will close many options. This thought is COMPLETELY WRONG. For all the general degree areas open to any stream, no Mathematics is required in grade 11/12. One can go for Commerce, Arts/Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Business Management, Hotel Management, Liberal Arts/Liberal Studies, Mass Communication/ Mass Media, Economics, Social Work, Computer Applications, Design/Fine arts/Applied arts/ Visual Arts/ Creative Arts, Sports, Performing Arts and Vocational Arts without having mathematics in grade 11/12.
Even Entrance Exams at all levels, be it Bachelor or Master, always expect the child to have knowledge of only 10th Level Maths. Higher Maths is not required for any General Entrance exam, be it GMAT, GRE for international studies or CAT, CMAT, XAT, NET Etc. for Domestic Education or CLAT, IPMAT, AILET, NPAT, UGAT Etc. for Undergraduate studies in India.
DO NOT WORRY, you will not be at loss anywhere.
Being good or bad is always a relative term. If you are at the level of 30-40 out of 100 in Maths at 10th Grade level, then you should not go for Mathematical Oriented Subjects in 11th/12th like pure Maths, Statistics, Accounts and Business Maths Etc. You may take either Science-B group (Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Provided you have strong interest in Life Sciences and wish to study harder and longer in 11th/12th.) or go for Humanities (History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology and Psychology)
If you are at a level of 60-70 out of 100 or higher in Maths at 10th grade level, then you should not go for Pure Maths in 11th/12th. You should go for mathematical application oriented subjects like accounts, Statistics and Economics. Therefore commerce shall be most suitable for you. You may also take Science-B group (Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Provided you have strong interest in Life Sciences and wish to study harder and longer in 11th/12th.)
If you are above 80 out of 100 or higher in Maths at 10th level, then you can go for Science-A group (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Provided you have strong interest in Sciences and wish to study harder and longer in 11th/12th.). If somewhere you feel Physics and Chemistry is not that strong, then go for Commerce.
To further know which course shall suite the best to the candidate, get your API assessment done through BrainMapping Process. I shall be happy to guide you.
Marks do not depict the true potential or intelligence of the child. Also I strongly believe marks have no role to play in making choice amongst Science, Commerce or Arts after 10th. One needs to look at the combination of subjects which one is interested in and in turn good with. A very simple technique will resolve your confusion. If you are excellent with Maths and Science, then go for Science A-Group (i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics). If you are excellent with Science, then go for Science B-Group (i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Biology). If you are good with Maths and like Economics, then go for Commerce (i.e. Accounts, Statistics, Economics and Business studies). If you are good with English and Social Sciences, then go for Arts/Humanities(i.e. History, Geography, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology).
I very Commonly say, “Do not Follow Friends or Trends”. Please do not allow your child to follow the same stream which the friends are taking. For deeper understanding of your child, get the child’s API testing done. Mr. Mohit Mangal and his team will do the Brain mapping of the child and assess the API to help him/her choose the right course/plan forward.
In Indian education System, there are only 4 Streams available after 10th. The child can choose to take Science A-Group (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics), Science B-Group (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), Commerce Group (Accounts, Statistics, Economics and Business studies) or Arts/Humanities Group (History, Geography, Psychology, Political Science and Sociology). If the child does not wish to carry on with Main stream academics, he/she can also shift to skill based programs after 10th. These skill based programs can be either Diploma or Certification in the area of Engineering, Medicine and Rehabilitation sciences or they can be in general areas like Hair care, Beautician, DJ/VJ/RJ, Event Management, Travel and Tourism, Export Import Etc.
Welcome to some deeper understanding of your aptitude. Firstly, let me tell you that you are not the only one who is feeling the same. 80% of the students studying Science-B group go through the same issue with Physics.
DO NOT WORRY
Let me explain you this issue in a very simple way. In Science, Biology and Chemistry fall under the category of Linguistic, Rote Oriented and Theoretical aptitude. Whereas, Mathematics and Physics fall under the category of Mathematical, Numerical, Mechanical and Analytical aptitude. Now you need to understand that all the students with high aptitude in Linguistic, Rote Oriented and theoretical bent, will feel comfort in the subjects of Chemistry and Biology. Wherein all the student who are relatively low on aptitude in Mathematical, Numerical, Mechanical and Analytical bent, will feel difficulty in Mathematics and Physics.
If you are going through this dilemma, your one set of aptitudes is higher than the other (which is common among 80% of the students studying science).
Remedy: the solution to this issue is to invest more time in the subject of Physics. At this young age, investing more time with a particular subject can enhance one’s aptitude in that subject area. Normally students start ignoring the subject which is uncomfortable to them which worsens the matter in such a case. So, Be careful and enjoy physics.

This is a very common issue faced by Science students. You are not the only one going through such a mental dilemma. A lot of students after experiencing Science-A group (i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) in 11th/12th realize that there is disconnect between their natural bent (also known as aptitude or IQ) and the subjects they are studying. This may happen or start in the middle of grade 11 upto any time till the end of grade 12. DO NOT WORRY.
Any child who gets this realization can switch to Pure Sciences field like Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Food Technology, Geology, Home Science, Instrumentation, Mathematics, Physics, Polymer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physical Science, Mathematical Sciences Etc. One can also shift to allied engineering fields like Architecture, Planning, Interior design, Fashion Technology Etc.
If one wish to completely opt out of medicine and science field, then the most appropriate course for them will be the one which is more practical and Numerical oriented like Law, Business Management, Hotel Management, Mass Communication, Economics and Computer Applications Etc.

Any Student with Physics and Mathematics in grade 12 (basically Science-A Group) can attain a pilot License. The three stages are Student Pilot Licence followed by Private Pilot Licence and finally getting Commercial Pilot Licence from any Flying school approved by DGCA in India. The candidate has to log certain number of required Flying hours along with passing tests as prescribed by the DGCA before one can fly an aircraft independently or as a Commercial Pilot.
Also one can join Indian Air Force and become a pilot where all your training needs are taken care by them. You need to serve in the Air Force for stipulated time with a bond.
